Taxi Cab Fares, Rates, and Fees
How much does a taxi ride cost? That widely depends on the time of day, the day of the week, the route taken, or destination.

Upon your entering the cab, the taximeter starts and registers the initial charge of $2.75. This charge is referred to as the “drop”. After the initial “drop”, the taximeter will assess a fare of $2.24 per mile. That is 28 cents for each 1/8th of a mile traveled. If the taximeter senses that the taxicab is moving at a rate less than 8-12 MPH, it will assess a charge of 17.2 cents every 24 seconds, which is why the taximeter continues to accumulate charges even when the taxicab is not moving. In case the taximeter senses that your taxicab is moving at a rate greater than 8-12 MPH, the fare calculates the actual distance traveled.
