The fundraising effort is part of the first-ever international “Pink Ride” effort spearheaded by the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association (TLPA) a global association of for-hire vehicle fleet owners representing 1,000 companies. With its member companies operating 100,000 vehicles, TLPA began working on the initiative one year ago in an effort to harness the tremendous presence and visibility of taxicabs, limousines and paratransit vehicles seen on the road every day. Established in 1917, the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association (TLPA) is a non-profit trade association of and for the private passenger transportation industry. Its extensive membership spans the globe to include 1,000 taxicab companies, executive sedan and limousine services, airport shuttle fleets, non-emergency medical “Community outreach is a significant part of our cancer program and we are so grateful for this exceptional support from Ace Taxi,” says Stan Gerson, MD, Director of the UH Ireland Cancer Center. “Cancer is a major disease affecting Northeast Ohio residents. Through our Office of Community Outreach, more than 1,500 uninsured, underinsured, and at-risk individuals benefit each year from education programming, lifesaving screening at no cost, and partnership with community-based organizations and coalitions. Early detection and cancer prevention education are our priorities. Currently we are working to ease transportation to medical centers for individuals who need cancer screening.”
